'Live From Freedom Hall', gravado em 15 de junho de 2007 e lançado em junho de 2010, não só captura a banda em seu estado mais natural - no palco, mas é também um dos últimos shows a ser gravado com Billy Powell e Ean Evans, que faleceram no ano passado. O lançamento é uma homenagem e uma celebração do Skynyrd. A banda apresenta todos os clássicos, incluindo "Sweet Home Alabama" e "Free Bird".

Em 1978 os membros sobreviventes do acidente aéreo com o Lynyrd Skynyrd, exceto Leon Wilkeson (que ainda estava seriamente abalado), gravaram, com muitos amigos, esta Super Jam 1 no distrito de Doraville, Atlanta, Georgia. Alguns dos principais músicos e conjuntos de Southern Rock estiveram reunidos alí naquele dia, como The Outlaws, Charlie Daniels Band, Dickey Betts (The Allman Brothers Band), Atlanta Rhythm Section e Wet Willie, além de alguns remanescentes do abalado Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Você ouvirá Gary Rossington e Allen Collins apresentando as canções e fazendo os comentários.
Acredito ter sido esta reunião um marco na história do Rock, com os sentimentos de pesar e dor ainda aflorados, mas com todos dispostos a dar o melhor de sí para homenagear aqueles que se foram.
A gravação em Broadcast (@320) está com relativamente boa qualidade de som.
Espero que se divirtam com esta minha primeira postagem do ano.

Lynyrd Skynyrd (2009) God & Guns

O 12º álbum de estúdio do Lynyrd Skynyrd só será lançado no dia 29 de setembro. God & Guns é o primeiro disco da banda sulista após Vicious Circle de 2003. O single Still Unbroken, lançado no dia 27 de julho, é uma amostra do que vem pela frente. Lendas do rock com um currículo de vitórias e tragédias extenso, o Lynyrd Skynyrd gravou o álbum God & Guns em Nashville.

"Uma banda que começou em 1964 com os jovens amigos Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, e Gary Rossington, com o nome de "The Noble Five", passando para "My Backyard" em 1965 e se estabelecendo em 1970 como "Lynyrd Skynyrd" para se tornar indiscutivelmente a melhor banda de Southern Rock desse planeta.
Apesar de todas as perdas ao longo desses anos, resta uma célula viva, Gary Rossington, que incansavelmente faz com que toda a genialidade desse grupo permaneça em destaque até hoje. Nesse álbum "God & Guns" dá gosto de ouvir o que sempre foi um destaque no Lynyrd Skynyrd... a participação de três guitarristas.
Essa mistura de influências desses guitarristas (Rossington, Medlocke e Matejka) nesse álbum ficou prá lá de interessante. Para quem não conhece ainda os outros 2 guitarristas que acompanham Mr. Rossington nessa nova empreitada, confiram aí:

Rickey Medlocke:
Chegou a ser baterista do Lynyrd em 1970, destacou-se como guitarrista do Blackfoot de 1975-94, tornou-se quitarrista lider do Ed King a partir de 1996 até hoje.
Já participou como guitarrista no Lynyrd em alguns álbuns: Skynyrd's First and... Last (1978), Twenty (1997), Edge of Forever (1999), Vicious Cycle (2003), The Vicious Cycle Tour (2004), Lyve from Steel Town (2007), God & Guns (2009).

Mark Matejka:
Sua primeira participação no Lynyrd aconteceu no álbum Christmas Time Again (2000). Em 2006 passou a fazer parte da banda, substituindo Hughie Thomasson, que decidira partir para o Outlaws.
Antes de tudo isso ele já tocou com outras bandas, como: Hot Apple Pie, Charlie Daniels Band, Sons of the Desert e The Kinleys." Ed.
