Queens of the Stone Age tem um estilo orientado para o riff de guitarra. Formada em 1996 pelo guitarrista Joshua Homme, inicialmente com o nome de Gamma Ray e com um rótulo de "stoner rock band", ela passou a se conhecida como Queens of the Stone Age em 1997. Seu lider, Homme, a classifica como uma "robot rock band" (?!?!).

Os Queens of the Stone Age se apresentram, no Rock in Rio, no dia 19/01/01, fazendo o terceiro show do dia.
